The Children's House is a non-profit, non-denominational Montessori preschool that was established in 1966 and is currently located in Verona, NJ. In our 45th year, The Children’s House has been serving families in the West Essex community. Our children range from 2 ½ years old to 6 years old and come to us from Verona, Cedar Grove, Montclair, Glen Ridge, Belleville, Bayonne, Bloomfield, The Caldwells, Roseland, Essex Fells and West Orange. We pride ourselves on providing a safe, nurturing, and child-centered learning experience for each and every child. The Children's House does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, or national origin. We are licensed as a childcare center by the State of New Jersey.

The Children's House staff is comprised of qualified childcare professionals with a trained Montessori teacher in each classroom. The staff is overseen by an Executive Director and Assistant Director who manage the operations of the school under the direction of the Board of Trustees. The objective of the Board of Trustees, comprised of tuition paying parents who serve without compensation, is to direct the school in pursuit of a positive education in a Montessori context for preschool children.

Throughout the year, the school also benefits from the many families who volunteer their time and energy to maintain the grounds of the school, assist teachers with special projects, oversee the school’s special events and fundraising efforts and provide invaluable support in countless other ways.

Montessori's educational approach has changed the learning process throughout the world. There are approximately 22,000 Montessori schools worldwide. Montessori schools teach children from as early has birth to 18 years old when children become adults.

There are different levels of Montessori development. The schools we list provide different levels and practices of the Montessori educational system/approach. Call the phone number listed for more information and/or to set up an appointment to visit the school.
